In May 2013 a group of friends decided to find out more about what a typical tourist faces in Brunei, by donning “tourist outfits” for a day.

Goal: To travel from the Brunei International Airport to the Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery, from the point of view of “tourists”.

Rules and Constraints: B$20-25 each for food, utilities and transport. Use resources available to tourists, such as tourist maps, brochures, public transport. Speak in English and pretend not to understand Malay (which was hard)
